Model Based Definition

Reduce design time. Boost profitability.

Reduce design time. Boost profitability.

Model Based Definition (MBD) is a complete product definition. Using a 3D model as its primary element, MBD enables access to the exact solid and its associated 3D geometry, dimensions, tolerances and annotation for clear and exact 3D Master Definition.

MBD eliminates the need to refer to two-dimensional drawings or projected orthographic views. Improved 3D CAD software architecture allows important design information to be inserted directly into the CAD model. Additionally, using the CAD model as the unique source of definition, we eliminate the ambiguity between the CAD model, paper drawings, and downstream applications requiring data.

The result is a distinct, complete geometric definition of the model with reduction to design cycle times and support for profitability.
