PCSI Design actively supports internships beginning in middle school and continuing on at the University level.
“I feel it’s my responsibility to find a way to build bridges between small businesses and the educational system. We see more and more engineering and manufacturing jobs being lost to other countries; therefore, since 2002, we have implemented an internship program to train and educate local students with the proper tools to be productive in the workplace and to be contributing members to society.” – Carlos Veliz, CEO and President
Internship Highlights:
In 2003, PCSI Design employed an Electrical Engineer that had been turned down numerous times for lack of experience. Today, she is working with one of our customers as a key player on their Electrical Engineering team.
In 2005, PCSI Design recruited a talented intern pursuing the civil industry. Today, he is running the CAD department for a prominent company in Bellevue, Washington.
In 2006, PCSI Design offered an internship to a freshman community college student who was bored with the curriculum, but possessed great promise as a budding mechanical engineer. Eventually, he began working with other PCSI Design engineers on various projects within the company.
“In my engineering classes, when instructors are talking about stuff on the board, I see it and can directly relate it back to my job. As a kid, I always dreamed of having a job at a design company. To be 19 and have that, it’s like living in a dream.” – Joshua Osborn
In 2006, the PCSI Design team mentored a local high school student and current community college student who had this to say about the internship program. This student is the first in his family ever to attend college.
